Postpartum anxiety, hormonal shifts, life transitions — anxiety in women is complex. You deserve care that goes deeper than just managing symptoms.

How Bloom Approaches ANXIETY
Anxiety isn’t always just in your mind — and at Bloom, we don’t treat it that way. For many women, anxiety is rooted in something physical: nutritional deficiencies, disrupted sleep, hormonal shifts, postpartum changes, or an underlying condition that hasn’t been identified yet.
When you come to us, we start by getting to know your full picture. We take a comprehensive look at your health history, lifestyle, sleep patterns, and nutrition — and may recommend blood work to better understand what’s contributing to how you feel. From there we build a personalized plan designed specifically around you and your life.
Your plan may include:
Integrative approaches
sleep support, nutritional guidance, movement, mindfulness, and other evidence-based strategies that address anxiety at the root
Medication management
if indicated and something you'd like to explore, we'll walk you through evidence-based options tailored to your individual needs, health history, and goals
Therapy
we offer therapeutic support as part of your care, helping you develop practical tools and coping strategies that work in your real daily life
Ongoing follow-up
we check in regularly, reassess how you’re doing, and adjust your plan as your life and needs evolve
WHY BLOOM IS DIFFERENT
*
WHY BLOOM IS DIFFERENT *
Most anxiety treatment starts and ends with a prescription — or a waitlist for therapy. At Bloom, we do something different.
Our entire team is certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) — which means we understand the unique way anxiety shows up in women across every stage of life. Everyday anxiety, postpartum anxiety, premenstrual anxiety, anxiety during pregnancy, anxiety triggered by infertility or pregnancy loss — these are experiences we specialize in and take seriously.
We also bring a level of integrative expertise that goes beyond a standard psychiatric appointment. We look at your full picture — sleep, nutrition, hormonal health, medical history — to find what’s actually driving your anxiety rather than simply managing it. And we do it in a space where you’ll never feel rushed, dismissed, or like just another appointment.

WHAT IS ANXIETY?
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health experiences women face — and one of the most frequently undertreated. It can look like constant worry, a racing heart, difficulty sleeping, irritability, or a persistent sense that something bad is about to happen. For many women it shows up physically before it’s ever recognized as anxiety.
Anxiety can be triggered or worsened by hormonal changes, postpartum transitions, stress, trauma, nutritional deficiencies, and more. It is not a personality flaw, a sign of weakness, or something you just need to push through. It is real — and it is treatable.
You might be experiencing PMDD if you:
Worry constantly and can’t seem to turn your mind off
Feel on edge, irritable, or easily startled
Have trouble sleeping even when you’re exhausted
Experience physical symptoms like a racing heart, chest tightness, or shortness of breath
Avoid situations or people because they feel overwhelming
Feel like you’re waiting for something to go wrong
Struggle to be present with your baby, your family, or your own life
Feel like anxiety is running the show — and you’re just along for the ride
Frequently Asked Questions
-
PMS is common and typically involves mild physical and emotional symptoms before your period. PMDD is significantly more intense — affecting your mood, relationships, and ability to function in ways that go far beyond typical PMS. The key distinction is severity and the degree to which symptoms disrupt your daily life.
-
There is no single lab test for PMDD. Diagnosis is based on a thorough review of your symptoms, health history, and cycle patterns. One of the most helpful tools is tracking your symptoms across at least two menstrual cycles to identify the pattern. At Bloom we take time to understand your full picture before arriving at any conclusions.
-
Yes — and it frequently is. The key difference is timing. PMDD symptoms are consistently tied to a specific phase of the menstrual cycle and typically lift shortly after your period begins. If your symptoms follow this pattern, it's worth exploring PMDD as a possible diagnosis even if you've previously been told you have depression or another condition.
-
For some women symptoms improve after menopause when hormone fluctuations cease — but waiting is not a treatment plan. PMDD can significantly impact your quality of life, relationships, and daily functioning for years without intervention. With the right support, most women see meaningful improvement much sooner.
-
For many women, yes — particularly around hormonal transitions like pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, or stopping hormonal birth control. This is why early intervention and ongoing monitoring are so important. At Bloom we reassess regularly and adjust your plan as your needs evolve.
-
Not everyone with PMDD needs medication — and we never pressure anyone toward a treatment they're not comfortable with. For some women, targeted lifestyle changes, nutritional support, and integrative approaches make a significant difference. For others, medication is an important part of the plan. We'll work with you to find the right combination for your needs and goals.
-
This varies depending on the approach and the individual. Some women notice improvement within one to two cycles — others take longer. Because PMDD is cyclical, we monitor your symptoms month to month and adjust your plan accordingly. Progress is rarely linear but it is possible.

AI tools can be helpful for tracking symptoms, finding information, or feeling less alone in a difficult moment. But AI cannot assess your full health picture, manage medications, provide therapy, or build a personalized treatment plan around your unique cycle and needs. PMDD deserves real, human care from a provider who truly understands it — and that's exactly what we offer at Bloom.
